Affiliate Marketing vs Google Adsense

This is a response post by Rafay Baloch to Hassam's post on Why you should never blog on Hacking?

Affiliate-Marketing Vs Google AdsenseAdSense is a very popular and widely known PPC network. It is how Google makes most of its income. AdSense has proven to be one of the highest paying ad networks, therefore a lot of bloggers and webmasters have been attracted by AdSense over the past few years. However the biggest mistake (in my opinion) most of the bloggers and webmasters commit is when they make AdSense as their main source of revenue, leaving themselves at the mercy of Google.

Last month AdSense banned more than 90% of the Pakistani publishers, due to the massive amount of click frauds by Pakistani Bloggers, Only 10% of the bloggers were doing click fraud and as a result of this the rest of 80% suffered badly. I was also the victim of the ban. It was a huge shock to those who has kept AdSense as their major source of income.

The Reason Why I Survived?

Well the answer is simple, I don't rely on AdSense, AdSense just brought 10% of my income, So I was really not worried if there was no adsense at all, However on the other hand the bloggers whose 90% of income was made through adsense lost every thing.

Affiliate Marketing

This post is not solely about the comparison b/w Adsense and Affiliate Marketing, However this post is more targeted towards the importance of affiliate marketing. So What is Affiliate Marketing?
affiliate_marketing Cycle
In simpler words an Affiliate Marketing means Cost per action, You earn an affiliate commission based on the action of the user. For Example: If a user completes a survey, You get a commission (Which b/w is known as Cost per lead, It's a type of affiliate marketing), If a user buys a product, You get a commission (Which is an example of traditional affiliate marketing.

SIX FIGURE BLOGGERS:

I have been closely analyzing the strategies of famous internet marketers and affiliate marketers such as John chow, ZacJohnson etc,  And most of their money is made by the combination of the two things, EMAIL MARKETING + AFFILIATE MARKETING. Let's take an example of ZacJohnson, He runs a blog zacjohnson, He makes SixFigure income by just Affiliate marketing, As a reason of which he is  widely known as Six Figure Affiliate Blogger.

Six Figure Bloggers Strategy:

Here is the strategy which almost every six figure affiliate bloggers use:
1. Choose A Target Audience.
2. Choose A Targeted Product.
3. Build An Email List with target audience.
4. Start Selling.
My Personal Opinion About Adsense Vs Affiliate Marketing:
"Choosing Adsense over affiliate marketing is just like trading dollars for pennies".

My Advice To Newbie Bloggers:

My advice to newbie bloggers is not restrict your self to only one source of income, Instead you create multiples sources of your income, So if one goes down, the other one is there to backup, In my upcoming guest posts, I will talk more about affiliate marketing and direct Ads, Types Of affiliate Marketing, Some Case Studies, Best affiliate marketing networks etc.
If you have any questions feel free to comment.

Make Money Online Tips

In a world such as today’s, where inflation is on the rise while salaries remain the same, every extra penny can be a blessing. Self-dependence is considered as the ideal situation to be in, especially among the younger generation. Because of the ever rising cost of living commodities and luxuries, more and more people are finding themselves working over-time for some extra salary, looking for better jobs, working part-time to cover their expenses, and so on. Hence, people want to look for alternate or parallel sources of income. And as they say, "where there’s a will, there’s a way". Indeed, there is not one, but many ways you can earn a few extra bucks. Many of these involve working online, meaning you can increase your income while working in the comfort of your living room!
Most of my blogger friends would know how they can earn money online through their blogs via monetizing them. But not everyone has a blog, even though creating a blog is as easy as creating a Facebook profile. Maintaining a blog, however, is not as easy. Hence, for such people, there are various other ways through which they could earn an income.

Freelancing

I hope you most of you know what freelancing is. It is basically working for someone else online and getting paid for it. By far, this has proven to be the most popular and most paying alternative to a regular office job. And in many ways, freelancing is better than regular jobs. Firstly, you get to do the work that you choose, so that you have some interest in it. Secondly, there's a wide range of stuff you can do. You can write articles, translate papers, do programming assignments for somebody, or take up large corporate projects as a team. The upside to this is that, you earn good bucks. The downside is, yo have to abide by deadlines.

Freelancing

Freelancing is great. It's your own way of saying out to the world; hey! I am independent! I don't need a job! I have a life too! Although technically, you do have a job. But at this job, you can take a nap at anytime and do whatever you want, so long as you do your work.

If you want to look into this, you can try 5 Ways To Win A Job As A Freelancer For Beginner. Or take a look at the Top 10 Freelancing Tips.

Online Surveys

Online surveysThere are many websites out there that are looking for people who would help them in their research and fill out surveys for them. Their aim is to get feedback and do market research on a product. There are website that are dedicated to finding out surveys available for you. One good example is SurveyScout.

Write Articles

Freelance writing is another great way of earning online. If you like writing, or if you are good at it, then you should consider this. Writing quality articles can earn you thousands of dollars per month. All you need to have is the right focus and of course, a good publishing platform where you can submit your articles.

As far as publishing is concerned, you can either self-publish, or submit your article to an article directory. You can either create a blog for self-publishing, or use Squidoo or Hubpages. Click to learn more about earning money through Squidoo.

If you don't want to self-publish, you can submit your articles to the top sites that will pay you for them. This is one of the best ways of earning online. Be sure never to plagiarize, however. Unique content is appreciated, while plagiarism might result in a ban on you. So be original, and you will be fine.

Data Entry

Data Entry is another popular money earning technique used by many people. But I must admit, it is a boring and time-intensive work. There are a lot of companies that want you to do their laborious tasks for them, without hiring a professional for the job. Usually, these tasks are simple. Entering one form of data into a form, organizing data, removing mistakes and errors, and so on.

Surfing and searching

Did you know that you can get paid to search on the internet? No kidding! Since the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing etc are monopolizing the industry, other smaller engines are left out. So to keep themselves going, they invite net searchers to use their engines, and offer rewards in return. One such company is Swagbucks, that gives you the chance to earn up to $5 per search! It's a neat little trick and I know some people who have started doing this to earn money. Another is InteradMedia, that pays $0.001 per minute of active search. The money isn't very substantial, but what's the harm in getting a few extra bucks every now and then?

There's another alternative way! Some website pay you to surf them! SurfBounty is a good one. All you need to do is stay on that site for a few seconds to register a "surf". Sit back as the dollars add up! Sounds great huh?

Earn Through Skype

About a month ago, I wrote a post in length about earning money through Skype. You can follow it here: Earn Money through skype. But the bottom-line is, with Skype, you can provide services such as tuitions to other people, and charge them for the call through Skype Prime.

Q&A Websites

Some Q&A websites will pay you to answer questions! Q&A websites are all about question that people ask. People ask all sorts of questions on such websites. So the websites hire people to answer those questions. So if you have a good general knowledge, why not give it a shot?

Play games to earn money!

Every app developer needs beta testers, who have nothing to do with the development of the apps. This helps them remove bugs and errors. With games, this is even harder. It requires a lot of man hours to test a game. So there are many companies that pay people to play their games, and provide feedback. That way, they can know if the project would be a fail or a success.

Ebay

Ebay is an advertising website where people put up classifieds for for things they want to sell, and then buyers contact the seller to purchase that item. If you are good at bargaining, you can take a shot at this. Buy products at a reasonable price, and then sell them again for a profit! This is how real estate works, except in that case, they are dealing with lands and houses and large property.

This was an essence of some of the things that I have learned. But by no means are they all the ways there are. You can find more ways at our sister blog Smart Earning Methods. Thanks for reading :)

But how would you define a "Professional Blogger?" In todays tutorial I will share every possible detail linked to six figure earning dream. Everyone loves to Make Money Online but not everyone is applying the correct formula and that's why people often abandon their blogging careers. All details below are based on what I practically experienced during my 3 years of Blogging career, so things shared here are deeply focused to guide how to survive online in this growing world competition. Make 2012 a year to establish your blogging Goals!

Pro Blogging SERIES

Part1: What skills are needed by a Professional Blogger?

Part2: "Three Learning Stages" To Become a Professional Blogger

Part3: Why Your Blog Makes No Money?

Part4: How Come Web Development is the Key To Become SIX FIGURE Blogger?

A Pro Blogger should not just be a fluent writer but he must also build up extra ordinary skills that may help him set up his blog and understand the market demands. Online media is thirsty for skilled people and bloggers are successful only if they posses the skills shared in this series else they will always rely on someone else to do the job for them. Therefore wasting time and money. So lets build some fundamentals!

Note:

None of tips shared below are needed if you can afford that the job be done by someone else for you. I am just sharing here skills that can turn you into a skill factory, someone who is above a blogger. Those with such skills, know how to take their little blog to the next level without depending on someone else.

Learn Web Designing  (Must)

If you ask a person pursuing a degree in software engineering or a doing computer science, he would also insist that you must learn things online and not from an institute. That's very true but to some extent. Learning online will take much of your time to develop your skills as compared to learning it from a firm which offers short courses in web designing. It only takes 4 months to become one like us or even better.

What is Web Designing?

Web designing is the art of building webpages from scratch using latest web technology tools and languages. Following are the courses that you must take in order to achieve this goal.

1. Adobe PhotoShop CS5 (Must)

Course Duration: 1 Month

Practice: Lifetime!

Tuition Fees: Should not cost more than $80

Online Tutorials: Youtube and Google

Photoshop is a 2d Image editing software which is widely used in industry as the most effective tool in creating graphic images in formats such as png, jpeg and gif. All those logos, banners, web images that you see on any website are created using this tool. CS5 is its latest version, so you must practice your skills on this latest software to be able to understand how to apply all great effects. Work hard on how to use Gradients, Styles, Brushes and Fonts.

Photoshop includes a sub-part called  Adobe ImageReady CS5. It is used to create animated images using the gif format. So during learning Photoshop you must ask your Course Teacher how to use ImageReady.

You must practice it daily during your course period by learning tutorials online. There are amazing people out there who shares their creativity daily either on YouTube or their blogs. Google is your best friend in this case.

2. CSS and HTML

Course Duration: 2 Months

Practice: Lifetime!

Tuition Fees: Should not cost more than $100

Online Tutorials: HTML   |   CSS

HTML stands for "Hyper Text Markup Language" and CSS stands for "Cascading Style Sheets". It is a language for describing web pages. Its not a programming language, it uses markup tags. You use HTML to build the Solid skeleton structure of a webpage. And you use CSS to create its layout and style it with colors, fonts, backgrounds, hover effects, alignments, positioning etc.

In short HTML is the skeleton of the webpage and CSS is its Flesh and skin. Without CSS a webpage looks dull and grey.

Note: You must first learn HTML and then learn CSS.

3. Adobe Dream Weaver CS5

Course Duration: Less Than 1 Month

Practice: One Time!

Tuition Fees: Should not cost more than $100

Online Tutorials: Google and YouTube

Those who have learnt HTML and CSS, learning Dream weaver would be like eating a piece of cake. Dream Weaver is the heart of Web designers. It is a is a web development application that is used to build creative websites offline.  It's a pretty advanced software which even includes support for server-side scripting languages and frameworks such as PHP, ASP and ColdFusion and Scriptlet (will discuss these languages in Part-2). But you just need to learn how to use this tool in order to effectively apply your HTML and CSS skills here. It does all the work that MBT HTML Editor does but at an extremely easy and advanced level.

You need to create separate promotion web pages for your blog. For instance you can create and design a web page for your ebook promotion or any product you may offer. You can even design your services page using Dream Weaver!

Continues..

I will publish part 2 tomorrow, which focuses on:

  1. Learn Web Development (Optional)
  2. Start with Google Blogger
  3. Learn SEO
  4. Build Readership
  5. Build Traffic
  6. Earn and Enjoy!

Do let me know if you needed any personal counseling. I would love to help you with problems you may be facing at this moment, no matter what field or country you belong to. Fulfilling all these requirements will turn you into a productive online resource. Whether you start freelancing or blogging, these skills will help you succeed with your online endeavors. Most of you asked how to design Blogger and wordpress templates, you will find answers to all these questions once the series is completed. Peace and blessings pals. :)
